Do I need first aid training?

The simple answer is YES!  At Apex we believe everyone should have some level of first aid training and it should be delivered in schools.

If you are a business, you have legal duties to make sure your staff are safe.  You can find out more by following this link to the HSE guidance

What type of first aid training do i need?

What sort of First Aid training you need will depend on a number of variables; why are you getting the training? Is it for work or a hobby?  What sort of risks are in your workplace?  There are multiple choices and factors to consider when picking the right course for you, get in touch with the Apex team and we will do our best to advise you.

How old do you need to be to attend a first aid course?

First Aid can be taught to anyone of any age, but for most regulated first aid courses you need to be at least 14 years old

What level of cover do I need for my event?

There isn't really a simple answer to this question as it is determined by a lot of different factors.  The first step is to complete a event risk assessment and then engage with a Event Medical Provider to help advise.  At Apex we follow thePurple Guideas a basis for our larger events.  For smaller events it comes down to what the event involves, its location and the history of the event.  Get in touch with us at Apex if you need help or have any queries.

What do you mean by remote access medicine

One of our mantras at Apex is we will get to any casualty anywhere, treat them and get them to definitive care.  Remote access medicine involves our medics operating in remote environments and providing advanced care and treatment beyond basic first aid.  This involves far more skills than your standard first aid provider.

With our heritage being from Mountain Rescue this is something in our company's DNA and comes from experience and vast amounts of training. We also share our Mountain Rescue based experiences with others.

How do I work out how many first aiders I should have in my workplace

Firstly you should carry out a full risk assessment to identify what risks are in your work place.  Then you can get advice on that level and how many first aiders you need for your business.  We do also have a calculator for you can use as an initial guide
