What is a RTACC Course?

Rescue Trauma and Casualty Care (RTACC) is an advanced course designed for first responders, emergency medical personnel, paramedics, and others who provide care in high-risk or emergency situations. This training delivers enhanced first aid skills, specifically tailored for emergency services personnel and workplace emergency response teams, giving them the confidence and competence to manage time-critical medical and trauma emergencies.

Who is it for?

RTACC is suitable for those looking to get to grips with there Trauma Managment skills such as:

Fire and Rescue
Search & Rescue

First Responders
Security
Paramedics
EMTs

Police

Or anyone who may have to manage trauma injuries within their role

What is Covered?

Key areas of focus include triage — learning how to assess and prioritise patients based on the severity of their injuries or conditions to ensure those in greatest need receive immediate care. The course also covers haemorrhage control techniques, such as the use of tourniquets, pressure dressings, and haemostatic agents, which are vital in preventing life-threatening blood loss.

Airway management is another critical component, with training on securing a patient’s airway and using devices like supraglottic airways. Learners also develop the skills to manage chest trauma, including conditions such as tension pneumothorax, flail chest, and open chest wounds.

Participants are taught how to assess and immobilise fractures and orthopaedic injuries effectively, helping prevent further harm. They also gain familiarity with specialist medical equipment and tools used in trauma care, such as trauma kits, medical packs, and monitoring devices.

RTACC equips candidates with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence needed to provide effective trauma care in challenging, high-pressure environments
